Death was due to heart failure, the family said. He had been a patient in Fairfield Memorial Hospital several times during the past year and had suffered a stroke several years ago.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson Funeral  Home, with burial in Pin Oak Cemetery north of Sims.  Visitation for friends and family will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Leggs were married for 76 years.  He was a farmer in the Sims area and worked as a timberman for the railroad.  Horses were used to drag the timber to Sims where it would be sold to the railroad for rail ties.

Mr. Legg moved to Fairfield 16 years ago when he retired from farming. He lived at 410 College St. until he moved into Way-Fair after his health continued to decline.  He was chosen to appear in the Press as the resident of the month at Way-Fair.
