Mrs. Jeanetta Russell, 59, Dies At Olney Care Center
A former Airtex Products guard, Mrs. Jeanelta Sue Russell, 59, of Fairfield, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1985 at Olney Care Center, Olney, following a long term bout with cancer.
Mrs. Russell was the mother of Billy E. Russell, of Fairfield
Funeral services will he held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is planned between 6-9 p.m. Thursday (tonight).
Mrs. Russell was born in Toledo, Ohio, Dec. 10, 1925, the daughter of William C. and Elizabeth Hodge Merritt.
She and her family moved to Wayne Countyin 1932, where she attended school at Burnt Prairie.
Mrs. Russell was married in 1943 to Bill Russell. The marriage which lasted for many years was later dissolved. The couple operated a service station in East Moline before Mrs. Russell returned to Fairfield.
She was employed as an Airtex guard for several years through the Pinkerton Detective Agency located in Evansville.
Mrs. Russell followed the Protestant faith.
Survivors include one son, Billy E. Russell, of Fairfield; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Merritt, of Ravenna, Mich.; one brother, Harry Merritt, of Chicago; five sisters, Mrs. Charlie (Judy) Lee and Mrs. Charles (Rachel) Hubbard, both of Fairfield, Mrs. Byron (Barbara Lou) Crowell and Miss Josephine Merritt, both ofRavenna, Mich.; and Mrs. Sammy Savage, of Chicago; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Jim and Jerry.
